As I read today’s post I realize that I wrote it almost two weeks ago while in Edinburgh. I sometimes juggle stories around and occasionally get temporally misaligned. In any case, the good news / bad news is that while I did return home to a small weight loss while traveling (in the range I anticipated), it was not as large as my regular at-home weight loss. What I did do on returning is to stick to my exercise program goals and this week I have started to spend time every day in my home gym (a.k.a. my garage where I have set up workout equipment for Kim and I). My program is to spend 30 minutes on the treadmill (I am gradually increasing speed and incline in what I hope is a sufficient but judicious manner) every day, and about 75 minutes every other day doing a series of thoracic, lower body and over strength-training exercises to build core and back muscles. I had a PT develop the program for me that has 22 separate exercises (plus I added two of my own…crunches and a medicine ball twist). So, the new and improved version of myself is actually coming to understand, after only 72 years on this earth, what the rest of the world has understood for millennia…that diet and exercise mean everything. Go figure.
