Clarifying Who I Am

Clarifying Who I Am

The Deep State is hard at work trying to mess with me.  My name is George and I am of Greek descent.  I have been vilified by the Fake News media, turning me into a dupe who launched a thousand secret dossiers.  I was caught in a web of political infighting and am an innocent bystander, a part of the collateral damage that came about by virtue of the liberal complex hating Donald Trump, the candidate I chose to support through my short-lived efforts on his campaign as a political advisor.  That’s all well and good, but I think it’s important that the American people understand who I am since I seem to be so pivotal to the entire Trump/Russia conspiracy.

As a kid I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and lived a life like any other member of the My Big Fat Greek Wedding Portokalos family.  I went to Greek School on Tuesday nights.  The rest of my education came from my local public school and my extended Greek family, who were very involved with Pan-Macedonian and Global politics.  I went to one of the top 120 colleges in the country and graduated with a degree in Poly Sci, which was not an easy curriculum.  The language requirements alone were rigorous, but luckily my Greek School came in handy with that.

So off I went into the working world and took an unpaid internship with a big think tank in Washington D.C.  Understand that they do not just take anyone for unpaid internships.  I had to prove a willingness to do as they asked and help them advance their agenda.  The day I started I read their mission statement and realized they were highly conservative.  That was OK with me since I was thinking of leaning in that direction anyway.  It struck me that there were too few jobs in the liberal confines of the think tank game, so I figured better to lean right, which is what I did.  I was planning a trip to Greece that summer, so I asked to work on Eastern Mediterranean issues.

During that summer trip, my cousin wanted to go to Cyprus, so we went.  There I met a nice Russian girl who introduced me to her uncle.  He convinced me to focus my attention on the oil and gas sector since he said it was coming under attack unfairly due to the climate nuts.  He gave me some private unpublished materials which I incorporated into a report I sent back to the think tank to think about.  They really liked it and asked me to write more papers like it.  My newfound Cypriot/Russian friend was more than happy to feed me lots more valuable data to base my research on.  He told me I should go to Moscow someday with him and he would introduce me to Vladimir Putin, which would certainly be very interesting.  In the meantime, he set me up with the Greek, Israeli and Egyptian diplomats in Cyprus and told them I was a mover and shaker in Washington, which certainly made for a nice summer for me in Cyprus.

By that time, I had run through most of my birthday money, so I started looking for a real job.  My pal teed me up with an energy company he controlled in London and I spent a few months learning a lot more about Russian oil and gas.  With that in my hip pocket I sent out my resume with all those great credentials to several presidential campaign people.  I was sorry to leave a nice paying job in London, but my friend said that strengthening my ties to the election process would really boost my career and so far, his advice had been spot-on.  He let me stay on staff and draw my salary as a consultant while I joined one of the campaigns as a foreign policy advisor.

When I met that candidate face-to-face, I was surprised how little he understood the importance of Russia and its resources to the rest of the world.  When that candidate tossed in the towel in favor of Donald Trump, I took a shot and sent my once more spiffed-up resume to Corey Lewandowski, who I had met late one night at a think tank meet and greet.  That led to an offer to join the Trump campaign as a political advisor.  I immediately accepted because I felt that Trump had all the right stuff to win the election.

Immediately, my friend, who had moved to London, took an even more special interest in my work and suggested that I help forge a link between himself and Trump.  I had only been in the same room with Trump once, but I flew to London to discuss how to orchestrate that.  I thought it was a valid and reasonable way to broaden the perspectives of the Trump campaign.  There was lots of support for the idea from all the top campaign officials, all of whom had connections to Russia, but couldn’t easily pursue them since they were so much in the spotlight.  I was lower profile and thought I could be highly effective given my extensive Russia knowledge and Russian contacts.  I met with lots of diplomats in London and started to forge contacts with Australia and other important US partners.

That’s when the Deep State came down with both feet on my neck.  The next thing you know, my profile was anything buy low.  I got indicted by the newly appointed Special Counsel and my life became a series of meetings with attorneys and the FBI.  What a joke.  I was just doing my job and they sandbagged me.  My friend in London stopped answering my calls.  I’m not sure I blame him.

The Fake News called me a coffee boy and a dupe when I was doing good solid research for my candidate.  I had a strong background in foreign policy even if I had never actually worked for money in the arena.  I hadn’t worked in government, but I went to a good school, had excellent language skills and had great contacts.  I am a solid citizen and a very professional foreign policy professional.  That’s what you need to know before you judge me with all this Fake News about me.  Maybe I’ll write a book and call it something like Me and the Deep State.
